Google Foresight Is a New Local AI Note-Taking App That Works Offline

Google has launched Google AI Edge Foresight, a free experimental AI note-taking app that can transcribe meetings, generate summaries, and answer questions without an internet connection.

Unlike cloud-based AI assistants, Foresight processes audio, notes, and files directly on the user’s computer. The app currently supports macOS and works best on Macs powered by Apple Silicon.

Google Foresight can transcribe meetings and generate AI notes offline

Foresight automatically transcribes meetings and audio recordings, allowing users to review conversations without manually taking detailed notes.

Users can also jot down short bullet points during meetings, and the app uses the transcript to turn them into polished, structured notes.

The built-in AI assistant can answer questions about meeting discussions, helping users find specific details without searching through lengthy transcripts. Users can also connect local files to provide additional context for the assistant’s answers.

Foresight uses Google’s on-device EmbeddingGemma 2 model and competes with established AI note-taking tools such as Granola and Wispr Flow.

Google focuses on privacy with free offline AI app

Google says Foresight keeps meeting audio, transcripts, notes, and connected files on the user’s computer rather than uploading them to cloud servers.

This local-first approach could appeal to professionals who handle sensitive meeting discussions or prefer to keep their information offline.

Foresight is currently free, although Google describes it as an experimental application. The company has not announced plans to bring the app to Windows or other platforms.

The launch follows Google’s broader push into AI productivity tools, including the new Gemini agent unveiled at Gemini at Work 2026.

Meanwhile, Google is also working on improvements to Chrome, including an easier way to delete multiple AI Skills and JPEG XL support with up to 50% better compression.
