There is no doubt about it — the gay hookup app Grindr is popular but a registration error can strike at any time. Grindr has a lot of controversy surrounding it but outside of this issue, it is a man-made program that glitches at times so here’s the rundown on how to go about it.

Why is Grindr verification not working?

You’re in a location where the Grindr app is banned due to government restrictions.
You are trying to create a new account with an already registered email address.
Your internet connection is unstable.
You’re trying to register via a third-party app where you’re not logged in.

How do I fix the Grindr registration error?

A few basic workarounds to start off the troubleshooting process include:

Check for an app and OS update and ensure you enter your login credentials correctly.
Test your internet speeds with another app to verify it’s working.
Check the Grindr server status for any outages, restart your device, and try again.

1. Force stop the app

Tap on settings on your phone.
Next, tap on Apps.
Find the Grindr app and tap on it.
Tap on Force stop at the bottom then reopen the app.

2. Clear cache

2.1 Browser cache

For this step, we shall be using the Chrome browser.
Launch your Chrome browser and click the three vertical ellipses in the top right corner.
Select Settings.
Click on Privacy and security, then select Clear browsing data.
Check Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files, then hit Clear data.

2.2 App cache

Tap on settings on your phone.
Next, tap on Apps.
Find the Grindr app and tap on it.
Scroll down and select Storage.
Tap on Clear data and Clear cache, then try again.

3. Allow Grindr permissions

On the Grindr registration page, there’s an option to sign in with third-party apps like Facebook or your Apple ID. If you’ve enabled two-factor authentication on these apps, you’ll first be required to sign in and give permission for Grindr to complete registration.

If you don’t accept the request, your Grindr registration will not go through and you’ll be stuck at this stage.

4. Enable/disable your VPN

Press the Windows key and select Settings.
Next, select Network & internet and click on VPN in the right-side menu.
Select the VPN connection you want to disable, click on the drop-down and select Remove.

Grindr is a location-based social network that allows you to meet other people in your area so if you’re having trouble with registration, you’re probably in a restricted area. The same fix applies for the Bumble not available in your country error.

You can also use a VPN that is good at masking your IP address if the free ones prove to be unreliable.

5. Try other registration methods

If you’re having trouble registering say with your email address, try another way like the third-party apps or via a browser. Some users had issues because they moved the app to a secure folder after downloading it which interferes with a successful registration.

If the app files ended up in the wrong folder, you can reinstall Grindr and try registration again.

6. Submit a request to customer support

The servers may be down or overloaded with other users who are also trying to sign up at the same time. This can happen at any time, but it’s more likely to occur when Grindr has just been released in a new country.

If you’re having trouble signing up and this is the case, try again later. However, if the registration error is persistent at different times of the day, you can submit a request to the Grindr team for troubleshooting.

You’ll need to provide details such as your location, a screenshot of the error, the type of device you’re using and your method of registration.
