Guild Wars 3 is Officially Announced for PS5 & PC, First Beta Coming in Fall 2027
Fourteen years after Guild Wars 2 launched, ArenaNet has finally pulled back the curtain on the next chapter. Guild Wars 3 is officially happening, and for the first time in franchise history, it’s heading to PlayStation alongside PC.
The announcement came during Summer Game Fest 2026, instantly putting one of the biggest names in MMORPGs back into the spotlight. While a full release date remains under wraps, ArenaNet confirmed that players will get their first hands-on opportunity through a beta planned for fall 2027.
Guild Wars has been a PC-only franchise since the original game debuted in 2005. Guild Wars 3 changes that by launching on PlayStation 5 alongside PC and Steam, opening the door to an entirely new audience.
ArenaNet says the combat system has been designed from day one to work naturally on both controllers and traditional keyboard-and-mouse setups. That’s a notable shift for a genre that has often struggled to make the jump to consoles.
The studio is positioning Guild Wars 3 as a modern evolution of the MMORPG rather than simply a sequel.
Speaking of gameplay, players will explore Orr, a vast frontier region filled with magical nature spirits known as Vael. The adventure centers around a mysterious creature called the Seeker, which serves as both companion and mount throughout the journey.
ArenaNet describes players as Vaelwardens, protectors tasked with defending the balance between civilization and the wild. The studio has also confirmed that more gameplay details, pricing, and release plans are expected throughout 2026 and 2027.
The showcase included dozens of trailers, gameplay reveals, and release date announcements. A complete recap is available in this Summer Game Fest 2026 overview.
