Halo 2 & Halo 3 Remakes’ Early Development Is Reportedly “Underway”
Halo Studios appears to be working on more than one comeback. A new report now suggests that remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3 are in active development, quietly building alongside this year’s release of Halo: Campaign Evolved.
Halo trilogy remake plans reportedly taking shape
Citing unnamed sources, YouTube channel Rebs Gaming claims that both projects are real and already in motion. Development is said to be in early stages, but reportedly underway.
One of my new sources sent me proof to verify themself and confirm that the Halo 2 and Halo 3 remakes are definitely happening. Active development is underway; they are in early development.
This follows earlier rumors that Halo Studios is shifting its entire pipeline to Unreal Engine 5. Back in 2024, the team confirmed multiple Halo projects were in development using the new engine.
There are also mentions of experimental add-ons, such as modifiers that could bring newer elements into older missions. It appears the studio may be testing ways to connect the trilogy even more closely.
That being said, none of this has been officially confirmed yet. Microsoft has only acknowledged the Halo: Campaign Evolved so far, with no clear word on Halo 2 or Halo 3. Speaking of the bigger picture, the studio is also believed to be working on a new multiplayer experience and the next mainline Halo title.
A slow rebuild for a major franchise
At a time when legacy franchises are getting full remakes, Halo feels like a natural fit for a modern reset. Unreal Engine 5 could give the series a visual and technical jump it has needed. It is still early, and plans could shift as development moves forward. If the claims reports hold up, Halo may be setting up its biggest return in years.
