India is officially hosting its first major global AI summit this week, and more than 250,000 delegates are expected to be in New Delhi. Not to mention, the India AI Impact Summit has quickly turned into a high-profile showcase for the country’s tech ambitions. At a time when AI investment worldwide is picking up the pace, India is making it clear that it wants a central role.

Among the biggest names attending are Sam Altman, Sundar Pichai, Dario Amodei, and Bill Gates. The presence of all the named AI leaders is understandable given that India has become one of their largest markets. Worth noting that Sam Altman recently confirmed that India has 100 million monthly active ChatGPT users.
Meanwhile, Pichai, representing Alphabet, joins peers at Microsoft and Amazon in committing massive investments toward AI and cloud infrastructure in India through the end of the decade.
