Intel’s next-gen Nova Lake-S desktop CPUs may launch in early 2027 instead of late 2026, according to new leaks. The revised window could align with AMD’s delayed Zen 6 Ryzen desktop plans.

Recent reports suggest that Intel’s Core Ultra Series 4 lineup, based on the Nova Lake-S architecture, might debut at CES 2027 rather than arriving in late 2026 as previously expected. The information comes from well-known leakers HXL and Golden Pig Upgrade, who point to an early 2027 launch window.

Nova Lake-S Launch Window Potentially Moves to CES 2027

Earlier rumors indicated that Nova Lake-S would land in the second half of 2026. However, updated leak timelines now suggest that Intel could target CES 2027 for its official reveal.

If the shift proves accurate, Intel’s next desktop platform would arrive around the same time as AMD’s Zen 6 Ryzen desktop processors, which are also rumored to slip into 2027. That would position both companies for a head-to-head generational refresh in the same launch cycle.

Massive Core Counts and NPU Improvements Rumored

Leaked specifications point to significant architectural changes. Flagship Nova Lake-S models may feature up to 52 total cores, reportedly configured as 16 Performance cores, 32 Efficiency cores, and 4 Low-Power cores.

Entry-level variants could scale down to a 4 P-core, 4 E-core, and 4 LP-core layout. These figures remain unconfirmed, and Intel has not officially detailed final core counts.

Another key highlight involves major improvements to NPU performance. With AI workloads becoming central to desktop computing, Intel appears to be pushing stronger on-chip AI acceleration in its upcoming generation.

Industry Factors Could Be Impacting Timelines

Broader supply-chain challenges may also influence these extended timelines. Ongoing silicon and DRAM constraints continue to affect production planning across the semiconductor industry, potentially contributing to delays in both Intel’s Nova Lake-S and AMD’s Zen 6 desktop platforms.
