Is Fallout 3 Remaster Releasing Soon? Possible Clues in Bethesda Ad Sends Fans Into a Frenzy
Speculation is building around Bethesda’s mysterious Fallout countdown, which already had every fan excited about a possible Fallout 3 Remaster announcement. However, a popular insider shut down the rumors, saying the remasters are a long way off and that the countdown has nothing to do with a Fallout 3 Remaster announcement.
Turns out the countdown isn’t for a Fallout 3 remaster; however, fans still have hope thanks to Bethesda’s new ad
Some fans who chose to believe the countdown is related to a Fallout 3 remaster are now disappointed, thanks to a hacker. Folks over at GamingBible cited a metadata discovery revealed by Reddit user clintgh, about which they mentioned, “the countdown is actually for a 3D room explorer, specifically the Mr House penthouse set seen in the TV series. Fans will be able to scope out the penthouse as if they were really there, sort of like on Google Maps where you can drop the camera down to street-level and see what’s about.”
Well, when something new is coming, a single clue can get fans excited. The talk has now been further fueled by a new promotional ad that points toward a long-rumored Fallout 3 remaster. The short advertisement features the popular Aaron Moten alongside the franchise’s iconic Vault Boy. The ad promotes the Fallout brand as a whole, ending with a slate confirming that Fallout 3, Fallout 4, Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 76, and Fallout Shelter are all playable right now.
However, fans quickly noticed that several moments in the ad appear to reference Fallout 3 very specifically. One scene shows dialogue choices popping up on screen, using a format lifted directly from Fallout 3 rather than newer entries.
Later, Moten and Vault Boy are shown standing in the ruins of Washington, D.C., where they encounter a super mutant, another clear callback to Fallout 3’s setting and gameplay. While footage from multiple Fallout titles appears throughout the ad, Fallout 4 is notably absent from these stylized gameplay moments. That omission has only added to the speculation.
Previous rumors about remasters
Rumors regarding a Fallout 3 remaster aren’t new. Microsoft documents leaked during the FTC case previously referenced a Fallout 3 remaster, and rumors of a Fallout: New Vegas remaster have circulated alongside it. With Fallout 5 still years away, many believe Bethesda could rely on remasters to maintain the momentum created by the TV show’s success.
For now, Bethesda hasn’t confirmed anything. However, the timing, references, and growing internet chatter suggest something Fallout-related is close. Whether it’s a remaster, only time will tell.
