[UPDATE 11/26] Microsoft has released Builds 26100.7309 and 26200.7309 under the same KB5070311 for Windows 11 version 24H2 and 25H2, with “some minor changes.”
[ORIGINAL] Microsoft has dropped a mojor update, KB5070311, for Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2 that bumps respective systems to Build 26100.7296 and 26200.7296 in the Release Preview channel. Alongside the Copilot+ PC improvements, this update brings bunch of new features for Windows Spotlight, Drag Tray, and more. Keep reading!
If you use Windows Spotlight as your desktop background, you will now see two new options in the right-click menu. The first, Learn more about this background, opens details about the current image.
The second, Next desktop background, switches to a new one instantly. These small additions make Spotlight feel more interactive and reduce the need to dig into Settings for basic actions.
Moving on, the Drag Tray feature is getting its biggest upgrade yet. It now supports multi-file sharing, shows more relevant app suggestions, and makes it easier to move files directly into a chosen folder. Microsoft also added a dedicated toggle under Settings > System > Nearby sharing, to allow users turn Drag Tray on or off without workarounds or registry tweaks.
Last but not least, the update also improves keyboard backlight performance for HID-compliant accessories. Keys now appear clearer in low-light conditions, and the backlight adjusts more intelligently to preserve battery. On supported hardware, the experience feels smoother and more consistent, especially on laptops that depend on ambient lighting.
