Latest Windows 11 Canary Update KB5079381 Adds Voice Typing for File Explorer & Improves Storage Cleanup
Microsoft has rolled out a new Preview Build 28020.1685 (KB5079381) for Windows 11 Insiders in the Canary Channel. The latest build introduces a small set of improvements focused on storage management and File Explorer usability.
One of the key updates in this release is support for voice typing when renaming files in File Explorer. After installing the update, users can press Windows key + H to dictate a file name instead of typing it manually. The feature integrates with Windows’ existing voice typing system and aims to make file management faster when working with long or complex file names.
Microsoft has also improved the reliability of removing Windows Update files and the windows.old folder via Settings > System > Storage. These files usually appear after major Windows updates and can take up a significant amount of space. The improvement should make cleanup through Storage settings more consistent.
Not to forget, the Dev and Beta channel update released alongside have fixed File Explorer’s white flash issues and more.
