Yesterday, Microsoft released the new Windows 10 Preview build 14295 for both Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile. And while all Windows 10 Mobile Preview-eligible devices received the new build, the Lumia 635 smartphone has yet to. Microsoft mentioned that the Lumia 635 would eventually get the new build, but wasn’t precise on neither the exact date of the updates nor a reason why the update for this device is late.

“In addition to devices that shipped with Windows 10 such as the Lumia 550, 650, 950, 950 XL, Xiaomi Mi4, and Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL, we are releasing this build to the list of devices that will be capable of receiving updates as part of the Windows Insider Program except the Lumia 635. We will add the Lumia 635 at a later date.”

What’s happening with the Lumia 635?

When Microsoft released the official list of phones eligible for the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade, it excluded a lot of its older Lumia devices — mainly those phones with 512MB of RAM (although even some devices with 2GB of RAM didn’t make it). However, the Lumia 635 has 1GB of RAM, so there’s no contention about the fact that the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade is available for this device.

But a 512MB variant of Lumia 635, only available in Brazil, also received the upgrade. This makes it the only Lumia device with 512MB of RAM that received the upgrade. And now, Microsoft delayed the release of the new Windows 10 Preview build for this device. So, the Lumia 635 is definitely a device drawing a lot attention these days, and we’re not sure about Microsoft’s future plans regarding it.

If Microsoft makes any announcement about the Lumia 635 in the coming days or weeks, we’ll make sure to let you know what’s going on. Until then, if you’re an owner of Lumia 635, tell us in the comment section below about your experiences with the upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile.
