Microsoft Details Months of Windows 11 Improvements, Promises More This Fall

If you’ve felt Windows 11 has been improving gradually lately, that’s no coincidence. Microsoft says the work is far from finished. The company has shared a progress report covering months of improvements across the operating system. It also revealed what users should expect before the year ends.

Microsoft says its Windows 11 quality push is delivering results

Back in March, Microsoft pledged to improve Windows 11 by focusing on performance, reliability, and better everyday experiences. Four months later, Windows chief Pavan Davuluri says those efforts are beginning to show across Insider builds.

According to Microsoft, many of the announced features have already reached Windows Insiders and will begin rolling out to more Windows 11 users this fall. That said, Microsoft admits the work isn’t complete.

The company says it remains committed to improving Taskbar, File Explorer, Windows Update, Widgets, Windows Search, Windows Hello, and the broader Windows experience.

More improvements are still on the way

Microsoft highlighted several changes already delivered over the past few months. Those include movable taskbars, a smaller taskbar, an improved Windows Search, better File Explorer responsiveness, quieter Widgets, improved Windows Hello, and fewer interruptions from Windows Update.

The company also pointed to reliability gains for USB4 docks, Bluetooth devices, AirPods, and network printers through its new Driver Quality Initiative. Speaking of updates, Microsoft says Windows now offers extended update pauses, the option to skip updates during setup, and a unified update experience that reduces the number of monthly restarts.

Looking ahead, Microsoft plans to focus on four additional priorities before the end of the year. Those include a faster Windows setup experience, lower memory usage on 8GB or higher PCs, improved Family features, and more natural voice interactions across Windows.
