We told you about Microsoft’s various attempts at promoting Edge wherever it can, including when searching for Chrome-related topics. Still, the Redmond-based tech giant decided to take it even further. Honestly, we love it: Microsoft debuted a fake uninstalling guide for Edge, but instead of showing you how to uninstall the browser, it throws a big shade at Chrome instead.
The uninstalling guide, which can be found here, asks the visitor if they want to get rid of Edge, only to find dozens of reasons why they shouldn’t.
Down the road, the guide doesn’t even try to hide it: it compares Edge to other browsers, notably (and only) Chrome, highlighting all the perks and features users can get that are unavailable on Chrome.
Then, it presents the biggest features you will miss if you uninstall Microsoft Edge, including Copilot, Security, VPN, and other benefits.
Only Chrome is mentioned in the comparison, which means Microsoft wanted to throw some shade at the most popular browser in the world.
The drama. Yet, this promoting strategy is what Microsoft should do instead of plastering ads everywhere.
It’s not only funny, but it’s reinvigorating, and in all truth, the ad makes me download Edge (I use on one of my devices, and it’s pretty good, not going to lie).
In all honesty, though, Edge has become one of the best browsers on the market, and some of our editors believe it’s the best. It recently was enhanced with a built-in price tracker that will look for the best discounts online, a scareware protection that will protect you against the most complex phishing attacks, and more.
So, you should definitely consider it.
