The first insider build, 26220.7535 (under KB5072046), for Windows 11 25H2 in 2026 has introduced Copilot-powered image descriptions to Narrator and the ability to uninstall Copilot app on admin-managed devices. That’s not all; the company is also rolling out an improvement to the Cross Device Resume feature, which is designed to make app continuity across devices smoother and more flexible.

Previously, developers integrating Cross Device Resume relied solely on the Link to Windows app. With this update, Microsoft has introduced an additional integration path using the Windows Notification System (WNS). This new method allows developers to reach a broader range of users while maintaining the seamless resume experience Windows apps are known for.

Developers are now encouraged to explore onboarding with WNS alongside the existing Link to Windows method to maximize continuity across devices. Check detailed guide here.

As for Windows Spotlight fans, the update also revamps the Spotlight icon. The new icon began rolling out in late December for a select group of Insiders, and this update expands its availability. The refreshed design aims to modernize the look and feel of Spotlight while keeping the familiar functionality users enjoy.

Let’s not forget that Microsoft is offering this update to both the Dev and Beta Channels on Windows 11, version 25H2. Insiders in the Dev Channel still have the opportunity to switch to the Beta Channel, but that window is closing soon.
