Microsoft Expands Xbox Handheld Gaming With 49 New Supported Games
Microsoft continues to expand Xbox Game Pass and its broader ecosystem, and after recently announcing seven new titles for next month, the company is now pushing further into handheld gaming.
According to True Achievements, Microsoft has added support for 49 additional games on handheld devices via the Xbox Store, marking another step toward making Xbox gaming more portable across devices.
Microsoft expands Xbox handheld gaming support
The latest update introduces compatibility for devices like the Asus ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X, alongside other Windows-based handhelds. This move aligns with Microsoft’s growing focus on enabling players to access their libraries anywhere without sacrificing playability.
A major highlight is the inclusion of several high-profile titles. Games like Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Star Wars Outlaws, and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown now support handheld play, with Ubisoft contributing a significant portion of the newly compatible catalog.
Two-tier system for handheld compatibility
Microsoft is also introducing a clearer labeling system to help users understand how well each game performs on handheld devices.
The “Handheld Optimized” tag indicates that a game runs smoothly out of the box with no adjustments required. Meanwhile, “Handheld Compatible” means the game is playable but may need manual tweaks such as adjusting graphics settings or controls.
Out of the 49 newly supported titles, 26 are fully optimized for handheld play, while 23 fall under the compatible category.
Notably, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl joins the list as a handheld-compatible title, alongside other additions like Screamer.
