Microsoft Finally Fixes Teams Meeting Add-in Issue Affecting Classic Outlook Users

classic Outlook issue

Microsoft 365 users have been encountering multiple issues since the start of this year. However, the company was quick on most occasions to resolve the issues. Last week, Microsoft fixed a bug in classic Outlook that affected Gmail and Yahoo accounts from syncing properly.

However, if you are among those who have been waiting for the company to fix the Teams Meeting Add-in issue affecting Classic Outlook, finally, there’s some good news.

At the time, users reported repeated crashes and prompts to start Outlook in Safe Mode. The problem was first reported earlier this month, affecting older builds of Outlook running the latest Teams Meeting Add-in (version 1.26.02603). Well, the issue has now been resolved.

In an official document, first spotted by Bleeping Computer, Microsoft noted that “a fix to correct the issue… will be included in Microsoft Teams version 26058.712.4527.9297.”

The company has further encouraged affected users to update their Outlook client to the latest build to prevent further crashes. For those who can’t update immediately, Microsoft recommends performing an Online Repair for click-to-run installations, which reinstalls all Office apps.

Another temporary workaround is disabling the Teams Meeting Add-in by opening Outlook in Safe Mode. Then, go to File > Options > Add-ins > Go. Next, make sure to uncheck the Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office in the COM Add-ins dialog and click OK. Finally, restart Outlook, and you should be good to go.
