You’re now able to download Microsoft Edge for Linux

Microsoft is killing several features from its browser as part of the Edge 137.0.3296.16 beta update. The company is removing tools like Wallet Hub, Mini menu, Image Editor, and video upscaling, but also introducing new productivity and multimedia improvements.

Edge 137.0.3296.16 removes some of the handy features

Microsoft has confirmed that several features will be deprecated and removed by mid-to-late May:

  • Wallet Hub (now merged with the password manager)
  • Mini menu
  • Image Editor
  • Image Hover menu
  • Video Super Resolution

The Wallet Hub section in Settings is also going away. A new section will now handle personal info, passwords, and payment details. Microsoft says this is part of a broader effort to simplify Edge. “Wallet is being phased out to support a streamlined experience,” the company noted in the changelog.

These changes in Edge 137.0.3296.16 beta are rolling out gradually, so not everyone will see them right away.

Some welcome changes

The Edge 137.0.3296.16 beta also includes a redesigned picture-in-picture player. It now lets users pause, play, skip, or scrub through video directly from the floating window. Just click the PiP icon on any supported video and enjoy, it’s that easy.

Well, Copilot is also getting smarter with the Edge 137.0.3296.16 beta update. Microsoft 365 users will see deeper Copilot integration with the browser. You can now summarize web pages with a single prompt, get contextual suggestions in Business Chat, and ask page-specific questions in the Work tab.

However, you’ll need a Microsoft 365 Copilot license. These features are also part of a controlled rollout and can be managed by IT admins using the EdgeEntraCopilotPageContext policy.

Other changes in Edge 137.0.3296.16

  • The MutationEventsEnabled policy is now obsolete. Developers should use the modern MutationObserver API instead.
  • Find on Page (Ctrl+F) in Edge for Business will soon integrate with Copilot Chat to improve content discovery.
  • The built-in PDF reader now supports more languages for the “Add text” feature, powered by Adobe Acrobat.
