It seems Microsoft isn’t done laying off empolyees just yet. Just weeks after laying off over 6,000 employees in one of its biggest workforce reductions in years, the company has laid off over 300 employees.

The news comes via Bloomberg, which reported spotting a notice filed in Washington state, affected a hundreds of job roles. Software engineers, marketers, product managers, legal staff, and research scientists were among those impacted.

Speaking about the latest layoffs with the news outlet, a Microsoft spokesperson said, “We continue to implement organizational changes necessary to best position the company for success in a dynamic marketplace.

Remember, Microsoft has been investing billions into AI infrastructure and talent, and like others in the space, it’s now turning to AI tools to improve efficiency and reduce headcount. Earlier rounds of cuts hit software engineers the hardest, a trend that seems to be continuing.

Microsoft, Meta, and others have been vocal about how AI-assisted coding is speeding up development work. Salesforce even said last week that using AI internally has helped them avoid hiring more people altogether.
