Office Insider build improves security and adds Search and enjoy feature

After the recently released non-security Microsoft is rolling out a new Office build for Insiders.

The new Office Insider build brings productivity improvements

The new Version 1909, build 12001.20000, comes with a lot of new features for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, and Project for Windows desktop.

Furthermore, there are some bug fixes included. Here is the full list of improvements and changes:

Excel Feature updates:

  • Collaboration just got easier: Co-authoring improvements mean that when working with conditional formatting, cell styles, and more, your changes are merged seamlessly with those of your collaborators.

Office Suite Feature updates:

  • New Office app icons: Redesigned app icons to reflect the simple, powerful, and intelligent experiences of Office

Outlook Feature updates:

  • Advanced protection against attack: With Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection, you’re protected against attacks through hyperlinks within email subjects, attached messages, signed messages, network paths, and so on.

PowerPoint Feature updates:

  • Search and enjoy: We’ve added Search to Insert Icons to make it easy to find the icon you want. And when you’re selecting, the Insert button tells you how many you’ve picked.

Word Feature updates:

  • Others see your changes quickly: Co-authoring improvements mean your collaborators can see your changes faster than ever before.

The new Search and enjoy feature was added to all the previously mentioned Office apps:

  • Search and enjoy: We’ve added Search to Insert Icons to make it easy to find the icon you want. And when you’re selecting, the Insert button tells you how many you’ve picked.

There are also some non-security fixes for Outlook and PowerPoint:

Outlook

  • We fixed an issue which caused meeting recipients to receive two notifications after a meeting was cancelled

PowerPoint

  • We fixed an issue which could cause a crash when the user selected No Outline or No Fill for Shapes and Icons

Another thing to note is that Microsoft Teams is now included in existing installations of Office 365 ProPlus and Office 365 Business after updating, depending on the update channel you’re using.

If you want to update to the latest Office Insider Preview build, just open an Office app and go to File > Account > Update Options > Update Now and you should be good to go.
