After desktop, Microsoft is overhauling Edge Settings on Android. The company is testing new settings, codenamed “v2,” behind a flag in Edge Canary.
Microsoft is reorganizing and expanding the current “main settings”. For example, it has removed “General” and moved respective settings into “Search,” “Microsoft Services,” “Downloads,” and “New Tab Page.”
New Settings in Edge Canary on Android:
- Microsoft Services: A new section that includes important features like Copilot, Shopping Assistant, Personalize your browsing, and Improve quality of shortcuts on the homepage.
- Search: Allows you to select region and country, choose a search engine (default is Bing), manage search history, enable contextual search, and adjust other search settings.
- Appearance and Layout: Now includes wallpaper and layout settings from the “New Tab Page.”
- New Tab Page: This lets you manage the news feed, weather, and startup settings.
- Tabs: Allows Microsoft Edge to help keep your tabs organized.
- Languages: Includes app languages and “Microsoft Translator” control options.
- Downloads: Available as a separate setting in the main settings.
The new Microsoft Services section brings together key tools that enhance your browsing experience. This includes:
- Copilot: Your AI-powered assistant to help with various tasks.
- Shopping Assistant: To find the best deals while you shop online.
- Personalize Your Browsing: Customize your Edge experience.
- Improve Quality of Shortcuts on Homepage: Optimize shortcuts for a better homepage with “clear icons, accurate titles, and no duplicates”.
Compared to the present Edge settings on Android, the new v2 settings, which could become the default, is long but, provides more control to the user when it comes to managing various Edge features.
