Microsoft has released new Windows 11 Dynamic Updates alongside the July 2026 Patch Tuesday updates. The packages improve Windows Setup and the Windows Recovery Environment on supported systems.

What Windows Dynamic Updates Do

Dynamic Updates install improvements that Windows uses during feature updates and recovery operations.

Safe OS Dynamic Updates improve the Windows Recovery Environment, also known as WinRE. Setup Dynamic Updates update binaries and other files used during Windows feature upgrades.

Administrators can also apply these packages to Windows images before deployment. Dynamic Updates help preserve Language Packs and Features on Demand when users upgrade to a newer Windows version.

KB5106056 Improves Windows 11 Setup

KB5106056 applies to Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2.

The Setup Dynamic Update improves Windows Setup binaries and other files used during feature updates. Microsoft designed the package to make Windows installations and upgrades more reliable.

KB5101719 Updates Windows Recovery

KB5101719 is a Safe OS Dynamic Update for Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2.

The package improves WinRE and updates the recovery environment to version 10.0.26100.8875.

It also changes how Windows handles hotkey unregistering and cleanup.

Some Keyboard Shortcuts May Temporarily Stop Working

Microsoft says some built-in Windows experiences may temporarily stop responding to certain keyboard shortcuts after the update.

The issue should occur only in rare cases. Restarting the affected application should restore the keyboard shortcut in most situations.

Users can report persistent problems through the Windows Feedback Hub.

Microsoft Fixes an OLE Automation Problem

KB5101719 also fixes an OLE Automation compatibility issue introduced by the June 2026 security update.

The problem affected applications that used IDispatch::Invoke with BYREF parameters sharing the same underlying storage.

Affected applications could encounter parameter marshaling errors or failed automation calls. Microsoft corrected parameter ownership handling to restore the expected behavior.

KB5099551 Updates Windows 11 23H2

Microsoft also released KB5099551 for Windows 11 version 23H2.

The Safe OS Dynamic Update upgrades WinRE to version 10.0.22621.7376. It includes the same hotkey lifecycle change and fixes the OLE Automation compatibility issue introduced by the June update.

Dynamic Updates Install Automatically

Microsoft distributes the Setup and Safe OS Dynamic Updates through Windows Update.

Supported devices should download and install the packages automatically. Most users do not need to install them manually.

Microsoft also released KB5101650 and KB5099414 for Windows 11 as part of the July 2026 Patch Tuesday rollout.

The company temporarily paused KB5101650 on some Dell PCs due to an Intel compatibility issue. Microsoft later addressed the problem with the KB5121767 emergency update.
