Dev Home, a platform that Microsoft unveiled at the Build 2023 conference less than 2 years ago, will be deprecated this May, according to a new message that popped up in the platform in the last week.
While Microsoft hasn’t specified why, the Redmond-based tech giant will reveal more information soon. The message reads:
Dev Home will be going away in May 2025 and a subset of its features will be moved to new places. Stay tuned for more information in the following months.
The platform acts like a hub for software developers, which can be installed on local machines and give developers all the tools they need to develop apps and software. These tools include Machine configurations, Environments, Windows customization, and Utilities that allow developers to tweak documents and files.
For almost 2 years, Microsoft enhanced the platform with dozens of features and capabilities, including GitHub integrations and so on. However, it seem these capabilities were not enough.
While the company might not provide us with additional information, for the time being, Dev Home is not viable, most likely. But we’ll have to wait and see.
