Microsoft’s Experiences and Devices Head Rajesh Jha to Retire in July
Microsoft has confirmed yet another leadership shakeup, this time within its Experiences + Devices division. Longtime leader Rajesh Jha prepares to retire after more than three decades at the company. Jha shared the news with employees in an internal email, which was later made public. Jha notes that he will step down from his role as Executive Vice President on July 1. After retiring, he will stay in an advisory role.
Pavan Davuluri and others will directly report to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella
As part of the leadership transition, Jha outlined some changes to its executive structure. Perry Clarke, Charles Lamanna, Pavan Davuluri, and Ryan Roslansky will report directly to CEO Satya Nadella as Executive Vice Presidents. Jeff Teper, meanwhile, will assume the role of Executive Vice President. Whereas, Sumit Chauhan and Kirk Koenigsbauer will become Presidents within the organization.
Despite the organizational changes, Jha says the company’s major priorities remain unchanged. “Our priorities around SFI, QEI, and Copilot remain unchanged – let’s keep the intensity here,” notes Jha in the email.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also praised Jha’s contributions, describing him as a key leader within the company. Nadella noted that Jha’s leadership helped shape the company’s operational discipline and long-term strategic direction. Speaking of new executives, Nadella noted, “And as we look to the future, the opportunity ahead is expansive. We have the depth of talent, the product ethos, and a clear sense of purpose as a company to ensure our technology advancements accrue to our mission of empowerment.”
Not the first leadership shakeup of the year
Let’s not forget that last month, Microsoft’s Gaming division also underwent a massive leadership shakeup. Phil Spencer retired after nearly four decades in the company. Meanwhile, Sarah Bond, often linked to the “This is an Xbox” marketing campaign, also stepped down. Now, Asha Sharma is the new CEO of Xbox, who is also overseeing the development of the next-gen Xbox console, codenamed “Project Helix.”
