Many users reported that MSI Dragon Center keeps pinning to the Taskbar and this can be rather annoying, especially if you don’t use the app frequently.  However, there are a few ways to get rid of it quickly.

What can I do if MSI Dragon Center keeps pinning to the Taskbar?

1. Adjust the LayoutModification.xml file

  1. Press the Windows key + R and enter %localappdata%
  2. Next, navigate to \Microsoft\Windows\Shell
  3. You should see the LayoutModifications file, right-click it and open it with Notepad or any other text editor.
  4. Locate the following line: <Taskbar:TaskbarPinList>
  5. In one of the following lines, you should see <taskbar:UWA AppUserModelID="9426MICRO-STARINTERNATION.MSICenter_kzh8wxbdkxb8p!App" />
  6. Delete the line from the Step 5.
  7. Save changes.
  8. Unpin the icon from the Taskbar.

Some users claim that you should look for the CustomTaskbarLayoutCollection PinListPlacement=”Replace” and remove any references to MSICenter after it, so try that as well.

2. Delete LayoutModification files

  1. Open the Local App Data directory, same as in the previous solution.
  2. Go to \Microsoft\Windows\Shell
  3. Delete LayoutModification.xml
  4. Press the Windows key + R and enter: C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Shell
  5. Locate LayoutModification.xml and remove it.
  6. Unpin the items from your PC.

If MSI Dragon Center keeps pinning to the Taskbar, the only way to fix it is by modifying the LayoutModification.xml or by removing it altogether.

This isn’t the only issue you can encounter with this software and many reported This system is not supported in the MSI Dragon Center message. For some users, MSI Dragon Center keeps asking to restart, but we have a guide that addresses that.
