New Windows 11 Beta (26H1) Build Fixes a Frustrating Hyper-V Issue with Linux VMs

Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 28020.3112 to the Beta Channel for devices running the 26H1 branch. The update is a small one, but it fixes an issue that could affect users running Linux virtual machines through Hyper-V.

Hyper-V finally fixes broken Plan9 folder sharing

The major fix in the Build 28020.3112 targets applications using HCS-managed virtual machines. Microsoft says some of these applications could run into problems when sharing folders between the Windows host and a Linux virtual machine through Plan9.

In affected setups, folders shared from Windows either failed to appear inside the Linux VM or could not be accessed properly. That issue has now been fixed, so shared host folders should correctly show up and remain accessible inside the Linux guest environment.

Microsoft describes the build as containing a small set of general improvements and fixes that improve the overall experience for Insiders running Windows 11 26H1. The Hyper-V Plan9 folder-sharing fix is the only specific change listed in the release notes provided for this build.

In addition to this build, Microsoft has also release Beta Build 26220.9568 which adds a handy new Cursor tool and several accessibility upgrades.
