Nintendo Admits It Underestimated Demand for Zelda Switch 2 Console, Promises Restocks
If you missed out on Nintendo’s gorgeous Zelda-themed Switch 2 console, there is still hope. Nintendo has confirmed that more units are coming after the limited-edition system sold out quickly. However, the company hasn’t shared when you can expect another chance to grab one.
Nintendo underestimated demand for its Zelda Switch 2 console
Nintendo of America’s Latin America vice president and general manager, Bill van Zyll, admitted that the company underestimated how popular the special-edition console would become. Speaking to the YouTube channel Coelho no Japão, he confirmed that replenishments are being planned (via GameRant).
“We underestimated how well it would be received,” van Zyll said. He also acknowledged that North America was among the markets experiencing particularly strong demand. The company apologized for the shortages and asked fans to remain patient.
That said, Nintendo still hasn’t revealed specific restock dates or quantities. Van Zyll said the company was working on replenishments but couldn’t provide further details yet. The announcement follows the console’s rapid sellout after preorders opened.
The Zelda-themed Switch 2 costs $519.99
The limited-edition console celebrates the franchise’s 40th anniversary with a black-and-gold dock featuring the iconic Triforce symbol. Its green-and-gold Joy-Con 2 controllers also feature Zelda-inspired detailing.
The console launched on October 29 for $519.99 in the US. However, it does not include a copy of the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. Nintendo has also confirmed special-edition accessories, including a Pro Controller and carrying case. These products are part of the franchise’s anniversary celebrations.

For now, buyers should keep checking Nintendo’s official store and participating retailers for availability updates. Nintendo has promised replenishments, but it hasn’t confirmed when additional units will arrive or how many will be available.
