Nintendo May Be Preparing New Switch 2 Models, Website References Suggest
Nintendo Switch 2 sales dipped during the holiday season, but Nintendo appears far from slowing down. New evidence suggests the company may already prepare additional hardware variants for its latest console.
Possible Switch 2 Variants Already in Development
According to reporting from NotebookCheck, references to an unannounced Nintendo Switch 2 model appeared on Nintendo’s Account website. The discovery came from a BluSky post by sky :3 and quickly fueled speculation across gaming communities.
The hidden references point toward the possibility of multiple Switch 2 revisions. Fans speculate Nintendo may plan a Switch 2 Pro, an OLED edition, or a more affordable Lite-style model, following patterns from previous generations.
Nintendo launched the original Switch with an LCD display and later introduced an OLED version, which strengthens expectations for a similar upgrade path. Many players continue to view OLED as a natural next step for the Switch 2 lineup.
Lite-Style Model Hints Surface Online
Online discussions also reference a potential smaller or budget-focused Switch 2 variant, internally labeled OSM. If accurate, this model could mirror the original Switch Lite, targeting handheld-first users or price-sensitive buyers.
Nintendo has a long history of refining its hardware through mid-generation updates. That approach makes the idea of additional Switch 2 models far from surprising, even while the console remains relatively new.
Nintendo has not confirmed any new Switch 2 hardware plans. For now, the references remain unannounced placeholders, and their meaning stays unclear.
In other Nintendo news, the company recently faced criticism over new Joy-Con 2 color options and rolled out the Nintendo Year in Review 2025, highlighting player activity across its ecosystem.
