[UPDATE: Preorders Now Live] Nintendo Switch 2 Gets Light Purple & Light Green Joy-Con 2 Controllers, Check Where to Buy

[UPDATE: December 10, 01:50 AM IST] Preorders are now live for Nitendo Switch 2 Joy-Con 2 controllers (Light Purple and Light Green) on BestBuy, GameStop, and Nintendo Store for $99.99 (via IGN). As far as Amazon is concerned, the product has been listed, but there is no pre-order option as of now.

[ORIGINAL STORY] If you own a Nintendo Switch 2, there’s a small, yet exciting news for you. The company has announced Light Purple and Light Green Joy-Con 2 controllers for the Switch 2. These will be released next month.

This is the first color variation for the portable-home console successor’s controllers since it launched last June. According to My Nintendo News, the company announced the news via its Nintendo Today! app, confirming a global release date of 12 February 2026.

Surprisingly, the announcement comes at a time when Nintendo may be struggling to push new units to the market due to higher production costs, with the blame coming down to rising memory prices and supply shortages.

The Switch 2 is apparently taking the biggest hit from that. The device packs 12 GB of RAM under the hood, which reportedly saw a 41% price hike in Q4 alone. The global RAM crunch, driven by data centers gulping up available chips, is hitting next-gen hardware across the industry, and Nintendo is no exception. The sharp rise in price has also reportedly forced Xbox and Sony to delay their next-gen consoles.

With Switch 2 production costs rising, the new colorways feel like a quick way to keep players hooked to the platform, all while the hardware itself remains expensive to manufacture.
