Outlook will allow Calendar owners to designate delegates to create new categories on their behalf, effectively allowing delegates to manage their meetings and schedules within the platform.
The ability will be released as a new feature for Outlook, according to a recent entry to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap. The Redmond-based tech giant says those designated (the delegates) can also apply categories, not only create them.
The platform will introduce a special list allowing the delegator to see the categories they can access. The list can be found by visiting Accounts > Categories.
Here’s what the entry says:
Delegates can now create new categories on behalf of the person who granted them permissions. They can also apply said categories to the Calendar of that same person who granted them permissions. Delegates can view the list of the delegator’s Categories by visiting the Accounts > Categories page of the Settings window and selecting the delegator’s account from the dropdown. #newoutlookforwindows
The new feature will be added to Outlook in February.
In similar news, the new Outlook for Windows will be getting a usage Graph API that will let companies know the app’s adoption rate. It will work similarly to the Copilot Dashboard within the 365 Admin Center.
