Rainbow Six Tactics Skips Release Date at Gamescom 2026, But Confirms Four-Operator Squads & Tactical Breaches

Ubisoft has revealed Rainbow Six Tactics at Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live, moving the franchise from fast FPS combat into turn-based strategy. The game puts players in command of Rainbow as Six, with missions built around planning, intelligence, squad management, and high-stakes decisions.

Siege’s DNA is still everywhere

Rainbow Six Tactics is designed as a single-player experience across Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC. Players can build squads with up to four Operators before heading into dangerous missions. The roster includes 15 Operators, each carrying familiar abilities, gadgets, and individual skill trees.

Ash, Sledge, Nokk, and Montagne are among the confirmed Operators. Between missions, players can train their Operators, review intelligence, and improve their squad. Missions can involve hostage rescues, bomb disposal, and target eliminations.

The campaign features dozens of possible missions across different locations. That setup should give players plenty of room to experiment with different squad combinations.

Destruction meets turn-based combat

Ubisoft is also carrying over one of Siege’s biggest features: destructible environments. Players can break walls, destroy enemy cover, and create new entry points. Then there is The Breach, a special synchronized assault that changes the rhythm of combat. It allows active Operators to move together while combining abilities and environmental destruction.

Creative Director Elie Benhamou says the transition from FPS to turn-based gameplay felt natural. The team wanted to preserve Rainbow Six’s focus on intelligence, planning, and tactical decisions.

The result appears to be less about twitch reactions and more about making every move count. Players will need to consider their Operators, surroundings, objectives, and available routes.

Ubisoft has not announced a release date in the provided announcement. The game is confirmed for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC, with wishlisting already available.
