Rayman Legends Retold Announced for PS5 With 3D Visuals and Voiced Characters
State of Play already delivered major reveals like God of War Laufey, new gameplay for Marvel’s Wolverine, and Until Dawn 2. Ubisoft also joined the showcase with the official reveal of Rayman Legends Retold, a new PlayStation 5 platformer launching on October 1.
The game is described as a bold 3D reimagining of the original Rayman Legends. Ubisoft says it keeps the core side-scrolling gameplay fans know while rebuilding the world with modern visuals, cinematic storytelling, and new gameplay ideas.
Rayman Legends Retold follows Rayman and his allies as they face a new threat spreading corruption across the world. The adventure brings back familiar heroes while introducing fresh environments, voiced cinematics, and expanded co-op features.
A New Story With Familiar Heroes
A shadowy villain has started corrupting the world and putting the Teensies in danger once again. Rayman teams up with Globox, Barbara, Grand Minimus, and Murphy to stop the growing darkness before it spreads further.
The story sends players across returning locations inspired by Rayman Legends while also introducing an entirely new realm created specifically for this release. Ubisoft says the game focuses heavily on cinematic presentation and character interactions.
One of the biggest changes is that the full cast is now voiced for the first time in franchise history. Ubisoft says this helps give more personality to the characters and makes story moments feel more dynamic during gameplay and cutscenes.
Enhanced 3D Visuals and New Gameplay Features
Rayman Legends Retold rebuilds the original game with a stronger 3D presentation. Ubisoft uses dynamic camera shifts, tilted perspectives, and cinematic transitions to make stages feel more immersive.
Despite the visual overhaul, the game still keeps the clarity of traditional side-scrolling platform gameplay. Ubisoft says players should still feel comfortable navigating levels while enjoying more dramatic visuals and environmental depth.
The game also introduces several new gameplay elements. Players can ride dragons during special sequences, explore a mysterious new realm, and tackle four brand-new musical stages where movement syncs directly with the soundtrack.
Couch Co-op and Kung Foot Return
Rayman Legends Retold supports up to four players in local couch co-op. Players can work together to rescue Teensies, collect Lums, and survive platforming challenges.
Ubisoft also says players can compete against each other during gameplay by racing through levels or even sabotaging teammates during chaotic moments.
Kung Foot is making a return as well. The mini-game now includes improved controls, new power-ups, and customizable rule sets for multiplayer matches.
Editions and Preorder Bonuses
The Standard Edition includes Rayman Legends Retold alongside Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition. Ubisoft says the enhanced version of Rayman Origins supports 4K resolution, 60 FPS gameplay, haptic feedback on compatible controllers, and several quality-of-life upgrades.
The Deluxe Edition adds the Retro Pack featuring four costumes and an in-game art gallery in addition to everything included in the Standard Edition.
Players who preorder any edition will receive the Hoodlum Havoc Pack. This bonus includes two costumes inspired by Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc for Rayman and Globox.
