Reddit launches Contributor Program, allowing users to earn real money

Reddit users everywhere, brace yourselves because the social media giant has just announced its Reddit Contributor Program, which will allow you to earn real money by using the platform in your free time.
Fake internet points are finally worth something! Now redditors can earn real money for their contributions to the Reddit community, based on the karma and gold they’ve been given.

Essentially, to earn real money with the Reddit Contributor Program, you’ll need to earn karma and gold, while enlisted in the program. Once you get enough of both resources (karma and gold), you’ll be able to exchange them for real money.
Reddit even tells you how much karma you need to earn to be able to exchange it for real money.

Reddit Contributor Program: How it works
- You’ll need to apply to the program, to see if you’re eligible. For instance, I’m not eligible for it.
- If you’re selected as part of the program, you then must earn enough karma and gold to pay cash.
- Other Redditors will be able to give gold to posts, comments, or other contributions they think are really worth something; so, if you’re already a Reddit passionate, you might easily earn gold.
- Top contributors make top dollar. The more karma and gold contributors earn, the more money they can receive.
However, the Reddit Contributor Program is quite selective. For now, there are a few rules on who can join the program.
- To stay in the Reddit Contributor Program, you’ll have to earn gold and karma each month.
- Provide verification information.
- Account age must be 30+ days old.
- Be over 18 and live in the U.S.
- Only Safe for Work contributions qualify; so no NSFW posts.
And don’t worry, even though, for now, the Reddit Contributor Program is only available to US Reddit users, more regions will be included in it, soon, according to Reddit.
