Reddit Introduces For You and Following Feeds to Give Users More Control
Reddit is introducing two new feed options, For You and Following, giving users more control over the posts they see. The update lets users switch between algorithmic recommendations and content exclusively from communities they have joined.
According to Reddit’s announcement, the company wants to make it easier for users to discover new discussions while staying connected to their favorite communities.
Reddit’s For You and Following feeds offer different experiences
The For You feed combines posts from communities users already follow with recommended content from other communities. Reddit uses these recommendations to help people discover discussions and topics that match their interests.
The Following feed, meanwhile, shows posts only from communities users have joined. It removes recommendations from unrelated communities, giving users a more focused browsing experience.
The distinction gives users a choice between exploring new content and keeping up with communities they already follow.
Reddit also plans to continue experimenting with recommendations and content discovery features to help users find relevant discussions and encourage engagement.
Reddit’s new feeds are rolling out globally
Reddit says the For You and Following feeds will roll out globally over the next few weeks.
Some users have already started seeing the new feed options, including on Reddit’s standard desktop interface. Others may need to wait as the company gradually expands availability.
The update follows other recent changes and experiments across social platforms. Reddit previously appeared to be testing mandatory login on its desktop website.
Meanwhile, Meta recently launched Waddle World, a Tamagotchi-style AI pet app, as technology companies continue exploring new ways to engage users.
