Resident Evil Requiem Demo Now Available on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Switch 2 & PC With a Catch

Capcom is clearly not done pushing Resident Evil Requiem yet. Even after the game exploded out of the gate this year, the company has now quietly released a completely free demo for all platforms. The new demo is available right now on Xbox Series X|S via the Xbox Store. Even Switch 2, PS5, and PC players (Steam and Epic Games) are getting the free demo, too.

According to Capcom, the demo lets players experience part of the game’s early opening sections, giving newcomers a proper taste of the atmosphere, pacing, combat, and horror setup before buying the full release.

That being said, there is one catch. Unfortunately, saved progress from the demo reportedly will not transfer into the full game later. However, considering how much momentum Resident Evil Requiem already has right now, the move honestly feels a little surprising.

The game already became one of 2026’s biggest horror releases and recently smashed a major sales milestone within days of launch. Which is exactly why some players did not really expect Capcom to bother releasing a demo afterward.

That said, there’s some logic behind it. Free demos still work surprisingly well for horror games, especially titles driven heavily by tension, atmosphere, and word-of-mouth reactions. Once players actually experience the opening sections themselves, there is a good chance many will stick around for the full thing. And it seems Capcom seems fully aware of that.
