Resident Evil Requiem Sells 5 Million Copies In Under A Week
Resident Evil Requiem has already crossed a major sales milestone, even after an early leak forced CAPCOM to address the situation publicly. According to CAPCOM, the game has surpassed 5 million copies sold worldwide just six days after its February 27 launch.
The strong opening also appears to match the game’s early momentum on PC. Requiem reportedly broke Steam concurrency records for the franchise shortly after release, suggesting an unusually large day-one audience for a Resident Evil title.
Steam Reviews Stay Strong After Launch Week Surge
Requiem’s reception on Steam looks just as dominant as its sales pace. The game currently holds an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating, with about 96% positive reviews, pointing to strong satisfaction even as the initial hype settles.
Beyond Steam, the game also ranks among the top user-scored releases on Metacritic, where it sits tied with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
CAPCOM Avoids “Fastest-Selling” Label, But The Numbers Look Clear
While CAPCOM confirmed the 5 million figure, the company did not explicitly call Requiem the fastest-selling Resident Evil game. Still, the timing makes the comparison hard to ignore.
Resident Evil Village needed roughly nine months to reach 5.7 million copies, and the Resident Evil 4 remake reached 5 million in under four months. Requiem hitting 5 million units in under a week puts it far ahead of previous entries in early sales, based on those public milestones.
DLC Rumor Mentions Leon Kennedy Expansion
A new rumor adds to the post-launch chatter. Leaker Dusk Golem claims CAPCOM is already developing a DLC expansion that focuses on Leon Kennedy, though CAPCOM has not confirmed any expansion plans.
Outside of sales and rumors, Requiem also received a day-one patch on Switch 2, signaling early support work for Nintendo’s new platform version.
