How can I use different currencies with Revolut?

1. Currency exchange in Revolut

If you need a certain currency, you can exchange your funds directly from the Revolut app. Just go to the Exchange section in the app and select the currencies that you would like to exchange.

Then, you can spend your money in over 150 currencies with the interbank exchange rate. The Revolut fees are between 0.5% and 1.5%, depending on the time of the week.

Also, for certain currencies a flat mark-up may apply.

The exchange process in the Revolut app is simple and straightforward: you just choose your current currency and convert it into any other currency that you need.

In just a couple of steps you’ll have your money exchanged and you can start spending them.

2. Activate multiple currency accounts

If you created your Revolut account in a certain currency, let’s say USD, you can also activate multiple accounts with other currencies as well.

As an example, let’s say that you already have a USD account and you also activate and EUR and GBP account.

If you top up the EUR and GBP account from your USD account, you’ll use Revolut’s exchange rates. However, if you top up the two accounts from other EUR and GBP accounts, there will not be any fees.

After that, if you spend your money online or make any transactions with your card, Revolut will automatically use that certain currency and only then your base currency.

For example, if you have the three currency accounts mentioned above and you make a transaction in EUR, Revolut will automatically withdraw money from the EUR account, even if your base currency is USD.

The only time when Revolut will exchange the base currency is when you don’t have sufficient funds in the other currency accounts that you try to use.

As you can see, using the currency exchange and multiple currencies in Revolut is pretty easy. Most of the process will happen automatically, you’ll just have to make sure that the accounts are topped up.
