Samsung has just dropped a bombshell in the world of storage with the announcement of their latest 9100 Pro Series SSDs. These new drives are set to redefine speed and efficiency, thanks to the cutting-edge PCIe 5.0 interface.
14.8 GB/s means serious speed

The 9100 Pro Series SSDs come in two flavors: the standard 9100 Pro and the 9100 Pro with Heatsink. Both versions promise to deliver up to twice the read and write speeds compared to their predecessors. We’re talking about sequential read speeds of up to 14,800 MB/s and write speeds of up to 13,400 MB/s. That’s some serious speed, double the one from the previous Samsung generation.
One of the standout features of the 9100 Pro Series is the storage capacity. These SSDs will be available in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB options starting this March, with prices ranging from $199.99 to $569.99. But the real showstopper is the 8TB version, which will be available in the second half of 2025. Samsung didn’t disclose the price for the 8TB version, but it will probably be around the $900 mark, which is pretty hefty.
Samsung has also focused on power efficiency and thermal management. The 9100 Pro Series boasts a 49% improvement in power efficiency compared to previous models, thanks to an advanced 5nm controller. The Heatsink version adds an extra layer of thermal control, ensuring your drive stays cool even during intense tasks.
We’re not pointing fingers, but if you’re aiming for the new Samsung 9100 Pro SSDs, you’re probably a gamer. The read/write speeds of these beasts translate to almost instant access, and that’s pretty important for gaming.
