30+ XBOX Games Arrive August 17—21 With Major New Releases

More than 30 games are coming to XBOX between August 17 and August 21, with Mortal Shell 2 and the STALKER 2: Cost of Hope Expansion leading a packed week of releases.

According to PureXbox, August 20 will bring the largest wave of new games, while more XBOX Game Pass announcements are also expected next week.

30+ XBOX games coming Aug 17–21, from indies to major releases

August 17

The week starts with Black Flower, a strategic roguelike built around survival, growth, and managing a fragile garden.

Players will need to react to changing weather conditions while making daily decisions that determine how their garden develops.

August 18

Three games arrive on August 18, including the return of Backyard Baseball and the full release of Starsand Island.

  • Backyard Baseball revives the classic arcade-style baseball game with enhanced gameplay and new modes.
  • Starsand Island 1.0 is a cozy seaside life simulation featuring fishing, exploration, animals, and country-life activities.
  • The Sinking City 2 is a third-person survival horror game set in 1920s Arkham, with an emphasis on exploration, limited resources, and managing threats.

August 19

August 19 adds five more games across racing, roguelite action, platforming, and hidden-object gameplay.

  • Arcade Archives 2 CYBER CYCLES brings back Namco’s 1995 arcade motorcycle racing game.
  • Archerio is a fast-paced action roguelite focused on precision, reflexes, and upgrades.
  • Cloudy Day is a hand-drawn 2D platformer about a cloud learning how to fly.
  • Hidden Cats in Barcelona challenges players to find cats hidden throughout Barcelona.
  • WonderCat Adventures follows a search for a missing cat companion after a UFO crash.

August 20 is the biggest release day

August 20 delivers the largest batch of games during the week, including Mortal Shell 2 and the STALKER 2: Cost of Hope Expansion.

Mortal Shell 2 is a standalone sequel that expands on the original game’s unforgiving combat. The sequel introduces faster battles, expanded weapon customization and upgrades, and a compact open-world structure designed to put more emphasis on exploration.

STALKER 2: Cost of Hope is a large, non-linear expansion that adds new stories and characters to the Zone. The expansion is expected to provide dozens of additional hours of gameplay.

Other August 20 releases include:

  • Berry Bury Berry, a surreal first-person incremental game about growing and burying berries.
  • Dark Reflection, a horror game about searching for a missing friend inside a distorted reality.
  • Driving is Hard, a physics-based driving game featuring a bathtub on wheels and difficult terrain.
  • Dungeon Antiqua 2, a retro 2D dungeon RPG with SNES-style pixel art and flexible character building.
  • Educational Family Games, a local multiplayer educational title for one to four players.
  • Find the Cats 2, a hidden-object game featuring cats across handcrafted scenes.
  • Gallipoli, a hardcore historical PvP shooter with one-shot-one-kill combat and objective-based battles.
  • Grim Trials, a heavy-metal action roguelite with customizable weapons and equipment.
  • Ground Zero Hero, a survival game set in a radioactive wasteland filled with mutated enemies.
  • Mexican Ninja, a 2.5D roguelike beat ’em up combining combos, spirit powers, and “Mexican Jutsus.”
  • Puppergeist, an adventure following a witch into the mysterious Doggie Underworld to search for her lost puppy.
  • Wings of Beyond, a shoot ’em up featuring space battles and upgrades.
  • Yet Another Zombie Survivors 1.0, a bullet-heaven survival game where players build a squad, choose upgrades, and fight thousands of undead.

August 21

Another eight games arrive on August 21, closing out the week’s release schedule.

  • Creepy Shift: Uncle Joe’s Motel is a narrative horror simulation that becomes progressively darker.
  • Dark Dungeon Head Haze is a 3D low-poly puzzle game centered on darkness, memory, and navigation.
  • Emoji Killer – Casino Massacre is a roguelike first-person shooter set in casino environments.
  • KeyQuack Quest is a pixel-art platformer starring a mallard that collects keys while avoiding traps.
  • Mega City Force lets players control different agents while fighting criminals and bosses.
  • No More Slimes!! is an arcade-style game about stopping an expanding slime rebellion.
  • Pay to Path is a puzzle game where players rearrange roads to guide piggy banks toward vaults.
  • With Eyes of Ice tells the story of Gréta Egilsdóttir and the events that leave her facing death from frostbite.

XBOX Game Pass gets Egging On

Egging On will join XBOX Game Pass Premium on August 18.

More XBOX Game Pass titles are expected to be announced next week, potentially adding even more games to an already crowded August 17–21 schedule.

In other XBOX news, the latest XBOX Update Adds Cloud Save Restore and lets players continue playing through the cloud while downloads and updates install.

Meanwhile, XBOX Free Play Days Brings Gears of War: E-Day Open Beta alongside two additional games for the weekend.
