Samsung Launches “Industry’s First” 6K Gaming Monitor, the Odyssey G80HS

Samsung has officially launched its next-generation Odyssey gaming monitor lineup globally. The launch comes right after LG took wraps off from its “world’s first” 1000Hz FHD gaming monitor. LG’s new gaming monitor will launch in the select regions in the second half of 2026. As far as Samsung’s Odyssey G8 lineup is concerned, it seems Samsung is going with extremely aggressive with specs this year.

Samsung’s new Odyssey G8 gaming monitor lineup goes all-in on extreme specs

Among the monitors in the latest lineup, the biggest highlight is the new Odyssey G8 (G80HS), which Samsung claims is the “industry’s first-ever” 6K gaming monitor. The said monitor features a massive 6K resolution paired with a 165Hz refresh rate.

Interestingly, Samsung is also adding Dual Mode support, which allows players to switch down to 3K resolution while pushing refresh rates up to 330Hz. In simple words, users can prioritize either ultra-sharp visuals or esports-grade speed based on the game.

The second model, G80HF, from the Odyssey G8 lineup features a 27-inch display, offering 5K resolution at 180Hz. Meanwhile, Dual Mode allows up to 360Hz in QHD.

The third model in the Samsung’s Odyssey OLED G8 lineup, G80SH, is available in 27-inch and 32-inch sizes. It combines 4K resolution with 240Hz refresh rates. The monitors use Samsung’s newer QD-OLED Penta Tandem tech, which apparently improves brightness, efficiency, and durability. The 32-inch version also comes with VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification.

Across the lineup, Samsung has included DisplayPort 2.1, AMD FreeSync Premium, NVIDIA G-Sync compatibility, and HDR10+ Gaming support. Notably, USB-C charging up to 98W is also part of the package on select models.

Samsung also refreshed its professional ViewFinity lineup

The company also introduced newer ViewFinity S8 displays focused on creators and productivity users. The larger 40-inch ViewFinity S8 features a curved WUHD display with a 144Hz refresh rate and Thunderbolt 5 connectivity supporting up to 80Gbps transfer speeds and 140W charging. Meanwhile, the smaller 27-inch ViewFinity S8 ships with a sharp 5K panel alongside USB-C connectivity for streamlined workflows.
