Radical Forge layoff

After Microsoft shed 1900 jobs in Activision, the gaming industry has been witnessing turbulent times. Radical Forge’s announcement to lay off a handful of employees is the latest in a series of setbacks.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the company apprised the community of the restructuring, which will affect the workforce count.

While the official statement didn’t reveal the exact number of affected employees, a post by Louis Escudié, former Junior Tech Game Designer at Radical Forge, confirmed the count to be 6.

As per the announcement, the restructuring will affect employees whose roles or skill sets are no longer needed on current or upcoming projects. On the bright side for the company, it will not hamper or delay the delivery of any lined-up projects.

Radical Forge, though a relatively smaller company, has worked on popular games like Sea of Thieves and Zombie Army 4. It’s working on another title, Southfield, a chaotic physics-based farming game, which will soon be added to Steam early access.

Last week, two major gaming companies terminated the contracts of a large number of employees. While Sony laid off 900 and closed the London Studio, EA released 5% of its workforce.

Experts believe that this trend will persist and we will witness more layoffs in the coming days as companies reevaluate finances and take measures aimed at boosting profits. As per Layoffs.fyi, 186 companies have laid off 49,386 employees in 2024 alone!
