After eliminating all the ads on the platform, Microsoft has taken a bold step to enhance the Skype experience, introducing performance improvements.
The new update focuses on making Skype smoother and more reliable on mobile devices. This latest version, 8.127, doesn’t boast flashy new features but zeroes in on stability and performance enhancements, bug fixes, and other minor tweaks.
Performance and reliability have been significantly boosted, thanks to improvements in the database system designed to lessen the load on mobile devices and CPUs. Users can expect a smoother Skype experience without annoying lags or crashes.
Good news for iPad users: a resolved permission issue ensures audio/video permissions messages reappear correctly, making call setups seamless. Mac users will appreciate the fixed button alignment in the Calls tab, which enhances usability.
The update has made navigating contacts in compact mode on mobile devices more efficient by eliminating large spaces between contacts. iOS users will notice that the call option visibility from the Copilot chat has been removed, aligning with the expected behaviour. Lastly, the update has corrected market selection for channel mute/unmute actions, preventing the errors that previously occurred.
While Skype might not be the first choice for messaging or calls these days, version 8.127 makes it far from obsolete. Regular updates from the Skype Insider program show Microsoft’s commitment to not giving up on this platform.
