Sony removed Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut from the countries without PlayStation Network (PSN) access. This decision came after the company included a mandatory account linking as a requirement to play the multiplayer Legends mode. However, as a result, gamers won’t be able to enjoy the game’s single-player content either. So, it’s a lose-lose situation for the game developers and those waiting for the game.
Why did Sony add the linking requirement for Ghost of Tsushima?
The company might have added the PSN account linking requirement for the multiplayer Legends mode of the Ghost of Tsushima to protect our safety and security. On top of that, according to CNET, this is Sony’s way to prevent players from griefing. But many of us know that the company had several breaches, and hackers stole player data. Thus, gamers don’t want to link their accounts to the PlayStation Network.
According to the email shared by the Reddit user freakshow9009, you will receive a refund in 5 to 7 days if you are from a restricted country. Hopefully, the company will change its decision and bring back Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut before its official release on May 16.
Sony didn’t learn from the Helldivers 2 uproar
Sony also tried to remove Helldivers 2 from 177 countries after the company wanted to include mandatory PSN account linking. However, players review-bombed the game with thousands of negative ratings. Yet, after Sony added the game on Steam again, users started giving positive reviews. So, there is a possibility that Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will suffer from the same treatment.
Unfortunately, even if the company claimed it learned from the player’s feedback for Helldivers 2, they made the same mistake with Ghost of Tsushima. In addition, it seems that Sony doesn’t know what’s best for its PC players. After all, they are repeating the same scenario.
Ultimately, we can all review-bomb Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut before it launches on PC. However, this time, Sony might keep their requirement. Yet, if you are from a restricted country, know that the game has plenty of single-player content for you to enjoy.
