I remember that among the first things that I did when I got my first computer was to play around with the sound recorder function.
With the coming of Windows 10, I have kept this “secret passion” and whenever I have a free moment, I start singing and then laugh listening to what I just recorded with my beautiful voice.
Microsoft said that it will update the Sound (or voice, call it as you wish) Recorder function inside Windows 10, but after installing it, I still don’t detect any differences.

Windows 10's built-in sound & voice recorder
Inside Windows 10, we actually have two solutions for you to record sounds or just your voice: the old Sound Recorder and the new, official app of Voice Recorder.
You can access both of by going to the search charm and typing there “sound recorder”. The first one, with the microphone icon, is the app, and you should use that if you’re on a touchscreen device, that’s my suggestion.
The Sound Recorder app for Windows 10 is quite fun and incredibly simple.
After recording your voice or the sounds around you, you can then choose to play, trim, delete or rename the file. However, we have tried checking where are the sound recorder files saved to, but we couldn’t find the exact location.
Maybe some ingenious reader could help us. The recordings are saved in the Sound Recorder app menu.
On Windows 10, Voice Recorder has a brand new interface which is much lighter and simpler than the one available on Windows 8, as you can see in the screenshot below.
The second one will open the traditional sound recorder option that has been part of Windows for ages. It’s easier to use, more basic and allows you to save Windows Media Audio files everywhere you want in your Windows 10 computer.
Until the Voice and Sound Recorder app for Windows 10 will get a fix (or until we figure out were are the files stored), I sadly recommend to stick with the old function.
