Spotify is the biggest audio streaming platform in the world, with billions relying on it for podcasts, audiobooks, songs, and whatnot. As with every other music streaming platform, Spotify also has a Premium plan for those who want some exclusive features while excluding ads. If you live in the US and have already signed up for Spotify Premium, the bad news is that you will end up paying more starting next month.

Spotify has hiked the Premium price yet again, this time by $1 per month, bumping the previous fee of $11.99 per month to $12.99 per month. In the announcement post, the audio platform noted that over the next month, Premium subscribers in the U.S., Estonia, and Latvia will receive an email explaining what the pricing update means for their subscriptions.

If you are planning to get Spotify Premium for the first time, you’ll have to pay the hiked price; it’s already live on Spotify’s Premium page. Spotify defends the price hike, saying that it reflects the value delivered through its Premium offering.

According to the company, occasional pricing updates across markets help support ongoing improvements to the service, while also benefiting artists on the platform. The announcement also reassured that all existing Premium features and benefits remain available under the new pricing structure.

If you are not willing to pay the increased price, you can cancel the Spotify Premium plan at any time through your account page. So, do you wish to keep Spotify Premium despite the increase in price, or will you move to an alternative platform? Do let us know in the comments below.
