Starfield PS5 Rumor Suggests April 2026 Launch And Big Gameplay Update

starfield ps 5 release date

Rumors about Starfield coming to PlayStation 5, along with a potential major overhaul, have circulated for months. Now, new reports suggest a possible launch date may finally be in sight.

According to Polish outlet PPE, later corroborated by well-known leaker billbil-kun via Dealabs, Starfield is rumored to launch on PS5 on April 7, 2026. However, Bethesda has not officially confirmed the release.

Starfield Rumor Points to April 7, 2026 PS5 Release Date

If the reports are accurate, the PlayStation 5 version of Starfield will arrive on April 7, 2026. A physical edition is also said to launch alongside the digital release on the same day.

Both standard and special editions are expected to be priced lower than the original Xbox Series X|S release from September 2023. That could make the PS5 version more attractive to new players who skipped the game at launch.

Pre-orders are rumored to begin on March 18, or possibly the evening of March 17, depending on region. An official announcement from Bethesda or Microsoft has yet to appear.

Premium Edition and Shattered Space Expansion

Reports suggest that the Premium Edition will include at least the Shattered Space expansion. Full details about additional bonuses or content remain unclear.

If confirmed, bundling the expansion could position the PS5 version as a more complete package compared to the original launch version.

Major Update Could Launch Alongside PS5 Version

The rumored PlayStation 5 release may coincide with a significant update for the game. Todd Howard previously confirmed that a major Starfield update is in development.

If the patch launches in early April, it would likely roll out across all platforms, including Xbox and PC, not just PS5. The update is rumored to introduce gameplay improvements and broader changes aimed at refining the overall experience.

Such a refreshed release window could help improve public perception of Starfield, which received mixed reactions at launch despite strong sales. However, it remains unlikely that the new version would fully reverse early comparisons to Bethesda classics like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

For now, all information remains unconfirmed, and Bethesda has not officially announced a PS5 version or detailed the upcoming update.
