Steam Controller's Unboxing Video Listing on SteamDB Hints at an Imminent Launch

The next-gen Steam Controller was unveiled last year by Valve alongside the Steam Machine and Steam Frame. If you have been waiting for its release, the good news is that it may be closer than initially expected. The latest rumor around the imminent launch of the Steam Controller stems from an unboxing video listing.

Steam Controller unboxing listing hints at possible launch soon

As reported by Notebookcheck, the latest detail comes via Brad Lynch on X, who spotted a video listing on SteamDB titled “steam_controller_unboxing_2026.” The video itself is not live yet, but the listing alone suggests that Valve may already be preparing launch materials behind the scenes.

This follows a string of recent leaks around the controller. Earlier this month, Lynch also pointed out that Valve imported a large batch of wireless PC controllers. When asked about the source of the information, he cited public import records on the Global Trade Data website. Around the same time, backend references to setup and pairing processes were also discovered.

It’s still unclear how Valve is going to approach the launch of its upcoming products. But, at the moment, the Steam Controller seems to be the first priority. Previously, the company indicated that it wants to launch the Steam Controller alongside other hardware, including the rumored Steam Machine and Steam Frame.

However, ongoing supply constraints, especially around memory and storage, may have delayed those plans. Earlier expectations pointed to an early 2026 release, but the launch timeline has since shifted. That said, the company is still aiming to launch the Steam Machine in 2026. As for the Steam Controller, the leaked unboxing video listing suggests that the launch might be around the corner.

For those unaware, the upcoming controller aims to bring every game in your Steam Library right to your fingertips. Valve describes it as “all the inputs to play all the games on Steam, wherever Steam is.” For more details, you can check our explainer guide about the Steam Controller.
