Microsoft has stayed in the spotlight recently after reporting a 16.7% revenue increase, but the company has also faced challenges. Alongside ongoing work to address recent boot failures affecting some business PCs, Microsoft has pushed out a new firmware update aimed at improving device reliability.

New Firmware Brings Security and Wi-Fi Fixes

As reported by Neowin, Microsoft released a firmware update for the Surface Pro 10 that focuses on security, connectivity, and overall stability.

The update fixes security vulnerabilities affecting the Neural Processing Unit and Wi-Fi components. It also addresses issues linked to Intel PROSet/Wireless software that could allow denial-of-service attacks. Microsoft also resolved camera instability problems that caused unexpected resets while devices operated in disconnected standby mode.

Wi-Fi performance receives notable improvements in this release. The firmware fixes slow connection speeds even when devices sit close to wireless access points. It also corrects cases where systems used low-power Wi-Fi levels instead of country-specific limits, which reduced performance in certain regions.

Microsoft continues to deliver these improvements through regular Surface firmware updates, and the company recommends installing the latest version as soon as it becomes available.

Beyond device updates, Microsoft recently secured a memory supply deal with SK Hynix for its Maia 200 AI chips. At the same time, the company has faced criticism over water usage tied to its expanding AI data center operations, keeping Microsoft firmly in the tech news cycle.
