Teams Phone User Multi-Line Now Lets Admins Assign Up to 10 Numbers Per User
Microsoft has announced general availability of Teams Phone User Multi-Line. With the new update, users will be able to link multiple phone numbers with their account without having to use a different account or workaround. This suggests that Microsoft is moving towards turning Teams into the hub for business calling.
Multiple phone numbers within one Teams account
Microsoft allows assigning up to 10 phone numbers to one account. Each phone number represents another role, department, or region of the company. Users are able to make and receive phone calls through their multiple numbers right within the Teams interface. There will be no need for account switching or using multiple devices.
Microsoft also offers support for localized caller IDs. Users are able to choose different phone numbers depending on the country they call in.
The function is available both in Teams desktop app and Teams Phone devices. Users do not need to sign in again to use another number. The admins handle all numerical values centrally, making it more flexible yet requiring more configuration responsibilities in large environments.
In older systems, there was heavy dependence on hardware facilities. Teams shift this into a cloud-based setup with more control through software. Not to forget, the feature supports users managing multiple roles, departments, or regions from one account. It keeps communication structured without fragmentation.
Let’s not forget that Teams is soon getting improved download manager, faster call transfers, and AI meeting notes. While Microsoft is continuously improving Teams, a persistent banner to “Unlock Premium” is being criticized lately. You can read more about it here.
