Microsoft has been actively adding new features to Teams lately, and it seems that trend is not slowing down. This time, we have spotted three new features in the Microsoft 365 Official Roadmap that will improve downloads, calling, and meeting workflows. Just to be clear, all three features are currently in development, with rollouts expected between June and July 2026.

Improved download manager brings better visibility

Starting with downloads, Microsoft is working on an upgraded download manager for Teams, expected to roll out in June 2026. The update focuses on better visibility, control, and accessibility when handling files. Once available, users will be able to open the download manager directly from the title bar or through a keyboard shortcut. More importantly, downloads can be tracked without blocking chats or channel activity, which should make multitasking a bit smoother during active conversations.

Call transfer gets faster and more intuitive

On the calling side, Microsoft is improving how call transfers work on desktop. The upcoming update will introduce a more streamlined workflow, reducing the steps required to transfer calls. It will also bring smart transfer suggestions, helping users quickly find the right person to redirect a call. The feature is planned for global rollout across Windows and Mac platforms with general availability starting June 2026.

AI-powered notes expand to in-person meetings

Moving to meetings, Microsoft is also bringing AI-powered notetaking to in-person sessions through Teams Rooms on Android. This feature is expected to roll out in July 2026. Powered by Copilot’s Facilitator agent, it can capture real-time notes, decisions, and action points during meetings. Notes can be displayed on room screens and later shared through meeting recaps. Microsoft notes that if the notes are not saved, they are automatically deleted, ensuring no data remains in the room.

All that said, Microsoft appears to be focusing on making Teams more efficient across everyday tasks, whether it’s managing files, handling calls, or keeping track of meetings.
