Teams will soon display Awards and Certifications as badges in users' profile card

Microsoft has spent much of this year improving Teams with features focused on meetings, collaboration, and productivity. Now, it seems the company is looking to give some attention to user profiles. A small change that could make professional achievements much easier to spot.

According to a recent addition Microsoft 365 Roadmap entry spotted by Windows Report, Microsoft Teams will soon display Awards and Certifications as badges directly on a user’s profile card. The feature is currently listed as In Development.

Teams profiles will better highlight professional achievements

Once available, users viewing a colleague’s profile card in Teams will immediately see badges highlighting awards and certifications. Microsoft says the goal is to create a more consistent profile experience across both Teams and Outlook.

Rather than opening additional profile pages or searching through organizational information, employees will be able to quickly identify a coworker’s professional credentials directly from the profile card. The feature could prove especially useful in larger organizations where employees regularly collaborate with colleagues they haven’t worked with before. Visible certifications may also make it easier to identify subject matter experts across different teams.

Rollout begins in September

Microsoft has scheduled the feature to begin rolling out in September 2026. According to the roadmap, it will reach users worldwide under General Availability. The update is planned for Teams on Windows desktops and Mac. Microsoft hasn’t announced availability for mobile devices or the web version at this time.
