Skype: Hosting meetings will be easier on Android, suggests the leaked code

According to the leaked APK of Skype on Android, we might be getting a teleprompter mode, as hinted by the code.

This means you will be able to turn your phone into a teleprompter, read the information from the screen while maintaining eye contact, and deliver it to your audience.

As of now, Microsoft has not officially announced this new development. However, the presence of the code indicates that such a feature could be included in future updates.

The discovered code references functionalities are related to teleprompters, including:

  • Script editing capabilities
  • Text size adjustments
  • Teleprompter speed control

Here is the code as reported by Android Authority:

<string name=”oc_teleprompter_edit_script”>Edit Script</string>

<string name=”oc_teleprompter_font_size_setting”>Change teleprompter text size</string>

<string name=” oc_teleprompter_hint”>Here is a demo script, you can update it to have your own content</string>

<string name=”oc_teleprompter_preview_text”>Preview</string>

<string name=”oc_teleprompter_speed”>Teleprompter speed</string>

<string name=”oc_teleprompter_speed_setting”>Change teleprompter speed</string>

<string name=”oc_teleprompter_text_size”>Teleprompter text size</string>

<string name=”oc_teleprompter_text_style_setting”>Change teleprompter text style</string>

As there is no official announcement, we are not certain about how teleprompter mode would work. However, the leaked code indicates that you will be able to change the text size, text style, and scrolling speed of the teleprompter to match your speech rate.

Furthermore, the feature would also provide a demo script that you can edit, and there will be a preview option to double-check the script before you start.

Remember that the discovered features are mentioned in the code, but there is no guarantee that all of them will make it to the public release.

Skype is constantly working to improve the platform on Android. On March 14, 2024, it added features that allow users to customize their messages. The feature is currently available to insiders in builds 8.114 and 8.115.
